The Lord has been showing me glimpses of his grace and love for his children through different aspects in life. The most recent example of this is when God decided that a storm was going to hit Jacksonville Alabama where the Jacksonville State University is located. I live fairly close to this area and know many people who attend this college so it was very close to my heart. This storm he sent was very powerful and created a lot of destruction and hurt through out the community. Now, I bet your wondering where Gods grace and love comes in during this story and the answer is through his timing.
The Lord graciously sent this storm through the area at a time when few were on campus due to spring break. Wow, that is not a coincidence however, it is the Lord showing love for his people. The storm itself serves the purpose of the Lord using it to make his children dependent on him and allowing this tragedy into the community so that eyes could be opened and hearts could be changed. The Lord could have sent this storm anywhere but he chose not too because he truly has everything planned out in perfect timing and chooses to give grace to his children daily although we don't deserve it.
Isaiah 60:22 says, " When the time is right I, The Lord, will make it happen." This verse is referenced usually in a different context pertaining to the Lord answering our prayers on his timing and that we must wait patiently on our requests because the Lord will provide them but on his timing. Today though I wanted to look at this verse even when it pertained to tragedies that happen in the world. The Lord has planned these tragedies to happen during certain times of our lives he doesn't send them just to be mean thats not the picture of Christ. Instead he sends them to us in a time when he knows that it will affect us, change us, and save us. The Lord wants nothing more than for his children to pursue a relationship with him and thats why tragedy happens sometimes in order for this relationship to be built and even in order for those who already have a relationship with Christ to be strengthened. When we realize how the Lord showed Grace on this community we are able to see the picture of our loving father perfectly.
My prayer, is that we can all remember this verse when darkness creeps into our lives through the form of tragedies. If we can find the Lords Grace through the situation we can remind ourselves of his love for us and his perfect timing. Instead of focusing on the heart break focus on the reason behind it and remember the character of our Lord. Learn to praise him during the storm and your relationship will be stronger than you could imagine.
Prayer of the week: Pray that God would open your eyes during trials and darkness in your life to be able to see the grace he is showing you and the love he has for you. Pray that you would always praise him during the storm and also thank him for having perfect timing and your life planned out for you.
